It's no secret I love to shop, but there's nothing I love more than shopping with a purpose. Founded by Charleston Local Katie Walters, Francis + Benedict exists to provide Togolese Seamstresses with dignified and sustainable employment. Their profits are used to resource community leaders in Togo, enabling them to continue projects that benefit orphans, widows, and those suffering in poverty. Every fabric is hand picked in Togo and each skirt is hand sewn with love and faith. When you reach in the pocket of any F + B skirt you'll find a small piece of paper signed by the seamstress who made the skirt.

Tell us why you chose the skirt that you did?

Choosing a F +B skirt is tough, because I love ALL the fun, flowy, bright patterned things in life and even moreso, in my wardrobe! However, I chose the particular F + B skirt I did because I was drawn to the beautiful boho feather like pattern with the subtle pops of blue, bright red & magenta. When it comes to length, I always lean towards the maxi style skirt, simply because the long style and flow offers itself to a variety of looks depending on your occasion and how you style it. There’s nothing I love more than a piece in my closet that can be styled for any occasion! Paired with a snazzy top it can look like the most formal of gowns or thrown on with a band tee it can be a casual, kicked back look..the styling options are really endless.

Tell us about the top and accessories you chose to go with it

If you know me, repurposing and thrifting are my JAM! Don’t tempt this sister with kid free time at Goodwill, because I could thrift for hours on end. Funny enough, my “top” is actually a fitted mini dress that I thrifted for $5 bucks, brand new with tags! ( Honestly, another bonus to the maxi style length ,is you can basically wear a full on dress or pants under it, and no one will ever know haha!) I’m a sucker for bold pattern play-something that F+ B skirts lend themselves too,so I simply couldn’t resist the look of the bright crisp white and polka dots with the flared feathered cut collar, paired with the deeper Spring colors and print of my F + B skirt for a bold Spring look. I kept my shoes pretty simple with a nude/black high wedge , I’m short so I certainly need the height with the maxi style length. I can never turn down a good statement earring, these particular fabulous earrings are from local Charleston designer Mimi Striplin of The Tiny Tassel and the clear acrylic with the pop of bright red, were the cherry on top to this outfit!

In general what trends are you loving right now?

Spring trends I’m loving right now are tie dye, smocked tops/dresses,cropped flare & high waist jeans, bold prints and band tees. I also love a good monochromatic moment, especially with nude or neon tones. I’m a true believer that fashion history repeats itself- and I can’t get enough of the current nod towards the styles of the 60’s/70’s.

Tell us about your everyday style. What would we find you wearing most days?

If I’m being honest, most days you’ll find me in athleisure wear bc #momlife haha! But if we’re speaking fashionably, I love a good cropped high waist flare jean with a smocked fitted top or cropped graphic tee. During summer my go to shoes are always a fun, chic sneaker, basic nude loafer or animal print sandal.

What style icons inspire you?

I love the bold and avant garde-ness of Blair Eadie.

I love the super casual, chic edge of Amy Smilovic ( who by the way, is a must follow on instagram- she explains style and how to find your personal style like no one I’ve ever heard. I just adore her. )

Two pieces that are so simple but stylish & BASIC-ally, the only transition staples you need, my friends.

I'm a busy momma of two toddlers, so if you relate - you understand my NEED for easy, but fashionable, grab & go looks. Side note : remember before kids when you would spend ridiculous amounts of time picking out clothes ?! hahahaha WHO WAS I? Now if the kids are dressed and one leg out the door, if a trash bag is in arms reach of me, that's it. I will wear a trash bag out, to keep the flow going.

ok, I wouldn't really wear a trash bag out (well never say never) but you get the point. I need easy & fashionable.

So when I opened my Anna white tee & Nina Black legging from With Love Peach - I was SO excited. I put them on and knew right away I'd be LIVING, full on repeat offending, in these two pieces for Fall & Winter.

The Anna white tee is not just your average white tee, its the PERFECT length & material for work and play, complimented by a comfortable but totally flattering fit. (For reference I wear a small.)

The Nina Legging is next level. I have bought more pairs of black leggings in my life than I care to admit, and these babies are a one stop shop when it comes to fashion, comfort & flattering fit. My absolute favorite part is they have a glossy, leather like material on the front of them ( party in the front, business in the back !) They also have a hi waist band and a medium compression fit that holds everything in all the right places.

When I slipped these two dreamy pieces on, the outfit choices that popped in my head we're basically endless. So I challenged myself to see how many different outfits I could throw together in literally under 20 minutes ( remember, mom with two toddlers here. Life is a race against the clock...or nap.) With just the change of simple accessories( earrings, shoes & outerwear) I was able to style 5 different looks in under 20 minutes!!!

I took these two fabulous basics from With Love Peach and went to :

With Peach Love Anna Tee & Nina Legging

Work : I threw on a thrifted Tibi blazer, some black leather booties & a some statement leather earrings from Willow Elizabeth, and I'm ready to work work work work work...Rihanna style!

Gym AKA drop off/pickup school style : Grabbed my With Love Peach Laguna Jacket & sneaks and I'm ready to roll right into school drop off and off to the gym!

Happy hour-cheers!: Grabbed a fun & casual vest, statement earring from Willow Elizabeth, black booties & my favorite sunnies from Maris DeHart and I'm ready to WINE down!

A night out on the town: With a little leopard & some over the knee boots & Willow Elizabeth rose gold statement stunner...somebody call the babysitter!!!

Lastly,I took these basics right to the heart of fall : with my With Love Peach Duchess Cape

( this thing is amazing, ya'll!!!!) and Uggs ( oh yes I did), wine colored Willow Elizabeth statement earrings and I'm ready for some PSL by the fire!!

Ya'll this was so much fun to do, I could hardly stop myself! I love challenging myself to make more with what I've got & these two staples make the outfit options endless & easy!

Now, get your best white tee & leggings and let me see what ya got!!! How many looks can you crush in 20 minutes?!!! Tag a sista!

Cheers girlfriends!!!!

Living in Charleston, SC one of the nations top wedding destinations and loving ALL things wedding, picking and curating some of my favorite Fall wedding season looks was a total blast! I teamed up with with premier wedding & event planning company here in Charleston Get Intrigued. Also, with owner Alden Hart of one of my favorite Charleston boutiques Maris DeHart, to bring ya'll the wedding goods! Whether bride or guest, we got ya covered!

Wedding Season Fashion Inspiration from Maris Dehart + Boho & Bows

August 9, 2018/in Wedding Advice /by Chelsye Harp

Somehow, it’s already August. That means footballs are about to fly, pumpkin spice is in the air, and wedding season is about to be in full swing.

With the best time of the year upon us, it begs one question: what to wear?! We teamed up with one of Charleston’s best bloggers and boutiques to find the answer.

We got together with Savannah Guss of Boho & Bows to get inspired for the season. B&B, the life & style blog providing a spark of creativity from the perspective of a young mother, gave us top picks for the upcoming wedding season’s looks for the lowcountry and beyond.

We stopped by local standout boutique Maris Dehart because, well…how could we not? While walking out of Maris Dehart’s doors and not looking fabulous is virtually impossible, owner Alden Haviland had some special items waiting at The Cabana that even exceeded expectations. The Cabana by Maris Dehart, the summer-only section of the boutique, is a must-see if you’re on a search to stand out.

Savannah got started with this elegant white dress.

This stunner is the ultimate look for all things bride. Rehearsal dinner? Elopement? Engagement pictures? Beach wedding? Reception dress?  You name it, and this beauty can be styled for any bridal occasion. I absolutely adore the high-low ruffle hem & mini train on this dress; it’s the perfect touch to give this look sass & class! I love the versatility to pair with a bright statement earring for a more casual vibe or with a simple veil and some bling, you’re ready to say “I DO!’

I never met a fringe I didn’t like! The detail of this light, delicate fringe hem combined with the ever-flattering fit of a wrap dress & soft color makes this dress a total show stopper. This is a style that would look gorgeous on anyone. As a wedding guest or attendee of a bridal shower/brunch/rehearsal dinner, this look is fool-proof & fabulous!

I love the unexpected sass of a classy pants and top situation instead of a dress. If you’re a bride looking to breakaway from tradition, or just not so much of a dress gal, then ladies look no further! The simplicity of the black and white is stunningly elegant, while the detail of the fringe gives it that extra WOW factor. Throw on a bright statement earring for a pop of color and totally rock this look at a rehearsal dinner or engagement party!

This set is so eye-catching & fabulous and it’s such a fun alternative to a dress. The stripes with the small detail of fringe and high waist, in combination with the subtle crop, give this look the ultimate vibe of elegance and style. Sets are one of my favorite styles because they take the work out of having to “piece” an outfit together. They’re a fashionable no-brainer, if you will. This set in particular is super easy to style for a more casual bridal brunch or glam it up for a dinner, by a quick change of accessories, shoe, or a bold lip.
(P.S. It’s super comfortable too!)

Whatever you decide to do when attending the big day of your nearest & dearest this upcoming season, Savannah says to make sure to stay true to yourself and you can’t go wrong.

“No matter the trend, cost or brand, true style is about who you are,” she says. “Kindness & confidence will never go out of style and will always be everyones best looks.”
